Cottage Dreams relies extensively on the
expertise, experience and associations of it's Board of
Directors. Each dedicated volunteer board member will help to
shape the direction and guide the Cottage Dreams organization to
reach its goals now and in the future.

Thomas Barlow- Director
Tom Barlow is a partner with Fasken Martineau DuMoulin, LLP,
which is one of Canada's largest law firms with offices in
Vancouver, Yellowknife, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City,
New York, London, and Johannesburg. Tom has worked at the firm
for over 20 years. Currently, among other things, he is Director
of Municipal and Planning Law, Director of the firm's
Public-Private Partnerships and Privatizations Group in the
Toronto office and a member of the firm's Strategic Counsel
Practice.
He served as a Big Brother for many years and was recognized
as a Big Brother of the Year for his work with Big Brothers. His
interest in Cottage Dreams comes from personal experience, both
as a cottage owner in the area of Minden, Ontario for many years
and as one who has experienced cancer through his family.
Bill Hamilton - Director
Bill Hamilton has been in the financial services industry for
over 20 years and owns his own company called Tier One Health
Benefits which specializes in corporate and personal life
insurance, Long-Term Care insurance and Critical Illness
insurance.
Through his work and his own personal experiences, Bill
brings to the board
a clear understanding of the physical, emotional and
financial impacts brought on by a serious illness diagnosis.
Bill and his wife Shannon have twin daughters Anna and Emily
and have been early supporters of the goals of Cottage Dreams
and were thrilled that they could share their own cottage in
Muskoka with a family in need.
Nick Henn - Chairman
Nick Henn is Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for
Direct Energy, one of the largest providers of natural gas,
electricity, and related energy services to business and
residential customers across North America.
Nick and his family moved to Toronto from their native England
in 2005. Prior to his move to Canada, Nick spent time working in
Hong Kong and London as both a private practice lawyer and an
in-house counsel. He is a qualified lawyer in both England &
Wales and Hong Kong.
In the short time they have lived in Toronto, Nick, his wife
Kate and their three children have been fortunate enough to
spend some enjoyable time in Cottage Country. Having been
introduced to Cottage Dreams and the wonderful feedback received
from both cottage donors and cottage visitors, Nick was keen to
join the Board to help contribute to its ongoing success in
providing very deserving families with quality time away
together.
Anin Basu - Treasurer
KPMG LLP, Toronto
Anin is an Associate Partner in the Audit Practice of KPMG, one of the world’s largest professional services organizations. He brings to the role of Treasurer at Cottage Dreams extensive experience in advising organizations that are faced with challenges as they grow. Just as important, he has a keen appreciation for the good work Cottage Dreams does in bringing fresh air and the revitalizing power of nature to the lives of those struck by cancer, and their families. Anin has volunteered in the past for Yellow Brick House and Habitat for Humanity. Cottage Dreams presents an opportunity for him to expand his volunteer work in a deep and meaningful way.
Anin lives in Markham with his wife Sonia, and two daughters: Ayesha and Rhea. Anin was born in India but has taken to cottaging in Canada like a duck to water. He and his family love the simple pleasures that it seems only time at a cottage can provide.
Ruth Long - Director
Ruth Long joined the board of Cottage Dreams in 2010. She is currently employed at Corus Entertainment as Director of Business Development in the Family division of television sales. Ruth is a member of the Cottage Dreams marketing committee and brings with her a strong knowledge of marketing and sales, especially in the media industry. She graduated from McMaster University with an Honours B.A. in languages and is currently working on her Teaching English as a Second Language certificate at Seneca College.
Ruth lives in Toronto with her husband Bruce and four children. Her hobbies include golfing, skiing and spending lots of time at their cottage in the Kawarthas. Her love of the cottage helps her appreciate the amazing contribution that Cottage Dreams makes to the lives of those recovering from cancer.
Andrew Ryan - Director
Andrew Ryan joined the board of Cottage Dreams in 2007.
He is currently employed at Carswell, a Thomson Reuters business
as a Senior Product Marketer for several compliance solutions.
He contributes to Cottage Dreams with his experience in
marketing, sales, public sector consulting and event management.
He currently holds a B.Comm. from Dalhousie University, and a
M.Sc. in European Business Administration and Business Law from
Lund University in Sweden.
Andrew maintains an active life style by roller blading, rock
climbing, skiing and by playing beach volleyball. He
has traveled extensively and has studied or worked in Denmark,
Sweden, Ireland, England, Australia and in Eastern Canada.
Ryan Moynes, CA - Director,
Finance Committee Member
Ryan Moynes is the Director of Finance for Constellation Software a top Canadian software company with more than US$600 million in annual revenues. Ryan received his BSc. (Biotechnology/Chartered Accountancy) as well as a Masters Degree in Accounting from the University of Waterloo before achieving his CA designation while working at KPMG LLP.
Ryan lives in Pickering with wife Katie, daughter Rachel and dog Kenzie. Ryan and Katie do not own a cottage (yet!) but they enjoy inviting themselves over to their friends cottages all summer long. Moreover, Ryan appreciates the important role that Cottage Dreams can play in the recovery process.
John Moran- Director
John Moran is employed by The Bank of Nova Scotia where he is the Vice President, Strategic Sourcing. Operating as Scotiabank, the bank is one of North America’s premier financial institutions, with over $10B in revenue and 48,000 employees. At Scotiabank, Mr. Moran is responsible for all sourcing initiatives, including outsourcing and global sourcing.
Mr. Moran holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Alberta with an International Studies designation, a Masters of Law from York University (Osgoode Hall) where his major research paper was on the legalities of offshore outsourcing, a Bachelor of Commerce from Carlton University and a Post-Secondary Certificate in Computer Studies from Centennial College (where he also instructed).
Mr. Moran has enjoyed a wide-ranging career, including positions of Vice President Business Development, Chief Information Officer and Publisher. He has negotiated on both the service provider and the customer side of complex business arrangements. Prior to joining the bank, Mr. Moran held various positions of leadership in outsourcing business development and delivery capacities. He has architected dozens of outsourcing deals, including offshore engagements and three of the ten largest deals in Canada.
He was previously with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young Canada, where he led a team which architected several outsourcing arrangements over $100M, including a $1.2B ten-year deal. He was also previously with DMR Consulting, where as the Vice President, Outsourcing Business Development, he led a Canadian and subsequently a global outsourcing business development team.With his expertise in sourcing and business development, Mr. Moran has addressed numerous events as a key speaker, including The Financial Times of London Offshoring and Outsourcing Conference, Sourcing Interests Group (SIG), Schulich Executive Education Centre, The Gartner Outsourcing Conference, The Center for Outsourcing Research and Education (CORE), Deloitte & Touche Business Developers Conference, The Access Group, the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS) and various conferences hosted by Federated Press.
John and his wife Lorraine live in Campbellville, Ontario.
