Noelia Marziali
About Noelia Marziali
Born in Montevideo, Uruguay and raised in the GTA, Noelia developed an appreciation for travel and art in its many forms. She attended the Academy of Art College in San Francisco and the Ontario College of Art and Design long enough to pack her bags, roam the world and work with the earth, painting at any opportunity. “Creation deserves an outlet and a focus. I create out of a desire to learn from the inside out.”
Inspiration is derived from the landscape of the human body, the natural landscape, plants and travels. More than anything Noelia hopes to capture and translate the energy or underlying spirit of an image. That which may be not visible but certainly exists in everything we experience.
There is a quality of spontaneity about her work. Noelia tends to work fast, craving a direct, instinctual, response. The emotional response to a model or image will dictate the intensity of colour and the quality of brush stroke. She prefers to avoid excessive detail in order for the viewer to expand and interpret freely.
I strive to find a balance between discipline of technique versus knowing when to abandon all and let the paint flow.
About The Muskoka Chair
I drew the design on with vine charcoal, then painted the lines in black acrylic, free-handed the leaves on with different hues of green acrylic, painted the rockface, the sun, the moon, outlined all the colour work with black acrylic and finally repainted all the previous black lines to polish it off. Final step was coating the entire chair in three coats of Exterior Varnish!
